  you dont need a contractor.. im pretty sure you need a permit though....i think you will have to have plans of the kind of deck and materials you want to use .. for said permit.. im fixing to build one too.. i am waiting on another quote back. i have had austin renovation and randalls general construction give me quotes.. randallls nmbr is 407-808-7221... austin is tel:(407)%20406-1755.. they have done alot of work for us and specialize in historic properties..
