Second Chance, Inc. creates "green collar jobs" by taking apart buildings that would otherwise be demolished and dumped in a landfill. We then offer the reclaimed materials to the public at a discount, helping fund our job training and workforce development programs.
Antique/thrift/consignment store recommendations I'm designing props for a show and am in search of (ideally fairly cheap) items from the late 1940s and early-mid 1950s. Any suggestions of stores in the area (within an hour of the beltway at most, ideally closer) that are known for having items from this period? Some of the items I'm interested in include fan/movie magazines, textbooks, purses/bags, wine/beer bottles, costume jewelry, car parts, radios/record players, dishes, and chrome diner-style furniture. Thanks!

These are the places our theatre uses: Community Forklift, in Hyattsville: http://communityforklift.org/our-store/our-inventory/ Second Chance near Baltimore http://www.secondchanceinc.org/ We've also used Anything But Costumes in NJ if we're looking for something specific. A little bit out of your way, but they really do have EVERYTHING! Good luck!
Classic Allentown basement window grate. Anyone know where I can get one like this?

Couple this with a trip to Inner Harbor. 200,000 sq ft of removed building materials old and new. From chandeliers to entire kitchens. http://www.secondchanceinc.org/
Looking for an old church pew or very long bench with back. Anyone have one or know where I can find one?

A lot of times you can find them at Second Chance down by the stadiums. That is one of my favorite places to look for housing ideas. http://www.secondchanceinc.org/
By any chance do you all have any antique doorbells in stock? I need a circa 1920s doorbell, where you push the button and it rapidly rings the bell inside the house. Ours broke during a renovation project... Thanks!

Sorry, Gary....we don't right now. You can call the store at 410.385.1700 x 123 and add the item to the Wish List. That way, a sales associate can call you if one comes in.
