  If you're in a bigger group the apartments at the Docklands are excellent and close to the rink & Harbourtown. Mercure has the nicest at the highest prices. No need to leave Docklands, which is like a quiet little village most of the time. Otherwise there's the Travelodge, or for something cheaper Erk mentioned the Space Hotel nearby, close to the Southern Cross train station (and Skybus terminal).

  I stayed here for a week was all good - https://www.spacehotel.com.au/ - its mostly a backpackers despite the name.

I am planning to take my hubby to Melbourne for his 30th, 5 year wedding anniversary and just as an excuse to take our children to the zoo and on a plane :p Our children are 3 1/2 and 17 months old. Can anyone suggest a nice place to stay (NOT TO EXPENSIVE) that is child friendly, not noisy and either in the CBD or close by?!!
