  Looking to adopt small dog in RI I have been searching for a good place to get a dog under 40lbs around RI. Seems like most places are overloaded with applications and subsequently small dogs are very hard to find right now! I am not picky about the breed, just one that will like cats! I can travel to pick up also. It would be great if I could get a dog before they’re surrendered to a shelter. I do not have a fenced in yard but there is many places to walk around my neighborhood and I hike a few times a week. I’m experienced with all dog breeds, previously worked at a doggie day camp and was trained to groom dogs. TLDR; I want a small dog and rescues are overloaded w applications, any recommendations?

  [Friends of Homeless Animals RI](http://fohari.org/) is almost exclusively small breeds. I would still put in an application with rescues. You could also apply to be a foster with some groups. You'll still have to compete with everyone else that wants to foster but usually you get access to available dogs before they go on social media and websites

  We are doing a big rescue this Saturday. Almost 60 dogs will be saved from puppymills. We still need help with 16 of them. Pomeranians, bischons, beagles and a peke. If anyone can suggest a reputable rescue to help take these dogs please let us know ASAP? Thanks

  My hairdresser is looking for a little dog. Little, Like 10 lbs. They already have a 10yo female king charles cavalier/chi mix. So must get along with dogs. Him and his husband have an older son, a teenager so doesn't need to get along with children. Preferably another female but that isn't set in stone.
