  My fiance and I were in the same predicament with horse fencing until we came across Centaur fencing. It looks like white board fencing but it's vinyl. It comes with a 20 year guarantee and comes in electrified options. It's inexpensive and easy to maintain There are video clips of them dropping tree branches on it and driving trucks into it slowly.   Here is a pic of our old fence that is the Centaur White Lightening fence. We bought the T-post covers as they looked really nice. You can buy regular caps and the insulators for the fence to use on t-posts though and it is cheaper. The insulators do need to be for this type of fence due to the thickness so you can't buy the insulators for regular electric fence at your local feed store. We did keep ours electrified just as an extra pre-caution but it wasn't a big deal to me if the electricity went out for some reason. We would use this again except that I want to get some sheep in the future on our new place and they are escape artists! Agree with staying away from regular non-coated(smooth wire) high tensile - have had that in the past and we almost lost 2 horses due to severe injuries - that stuff cuts like a razor blade down to the bone.

  We had Centaur White Lightening fence at our last property. It is a plastic coated high tensile fence that can be electrified. All the pros of high tensile and is super safe due to the plastic coating. Sturdy enough that it can be used as a perimeter fence. Even had trees fall on it and just had to cut up the tree and the fence went right back up. Pretty easy to install as well - we did it ourselves. Looks nice as an added bonus and is a cheaper option when looking at some other options. Has a 20 yr warranty as well I believe.
