I've done a bit of searching, but does anyone have recommendations for long-stay hotels for our TLA time? We already know we want to stay in the Chiaia/Vomero area (or somewhere closer to town), so ideally we'd like to stay near there while we're apartment hunting as well. My husband's a DoD civilian, so the new housing rule doesn't apply to us (phew!). Any tips, recommendations or opinions are much appreciated :)

  Welcome! Question, usually for TLA stays you have to stay at the Navy Lodge unless they don't have room. Does this apply to civilians as well? A lot of people stay at Hotel Agora which I've heard great things about, but if I had the choice (and a car that's here right when you arrive to allow for a short commute to work/base), I'd stay at Hotel Avelino in Pozzouli. The rooms are very nice, it's close to a metro and it's in a very walkable/safe area right in the middle of the action. Not a lot of Americans opt to stay here, but a lot of higher ups for NATO do while looking for housing. http://www.villaavellino.it/ Hope this helps!
