I had to gently remove the rust, repaint and add a frame protector to prevent further damage. Anyone else experience this?Michael H. replied:The frame I got had some rust when I got it. The previous owner scrapped a bunch of it off before sending it to me. When I got it I sanded it down a little bit more and used POR15 (http://www.por15.com) on it and covered it up with some paint and old tubes. Salt reeks havoc on everything, just have to keep things clean.

From POR15.com and it is called by that name. Get the kit for motorcycles. There's enough sealer in the kit to do several tanks. I've used it with great success several times on BMW and other gas tanks. Roy

I use the abrasive spunge dremel attachment to finish off on gaskets .. i don't know what its called but its a soft-ish spung looking one (no grit added or anything). Also love Marine Clean from http://www.por15.com/ That stuff cuts the grease like crazy

POR does make another version of their product and some filler that they market for this need. I just got my shipment of their stuff and they included a bunch of literature in it. One page showed them repairing some rusted floorboards with some kind of webbing tape, then POR-ing over it. Cruise around their website (http://www.POR15.com) and I'm sure you'll find it.
