  Hi, Hope this post is allowed - I'm just looking for some advice really! I've just begun playing in a Motown function band and we're trying to get gigging at the moment but we're aware that we need some sort of public liability insurance. I've had a look around and I'm struggling to find anything suitable - most insurance companies only recognise music teachers as a musical job that might require insurance. Can anyone give me a recommendation of where to look? We'll probably be playing around twice a month to begin with and we really just need to cover ourselves incase some one injured themselves on our equipment. Thanks in advance :)

  Yeh I use http://www.musiciansinsurance.co.uk/ as well and they're great - the policy is cheap and easy to organise and is good value for money. Never had to use them for a claim (touch wood) but can recommend them

  MU only covers the individual band member for PLI - not the band as a whole. If all band members have it then great, otherwise you're not fully covered. To be honest most venues and agents don't realise this so you could get away with it but my band have had it pointed out in the past. We now use www.musiciansinsurance.co.uk I think it cost £180 for our 5 piece band for the whole year up to 5 million. PAT testing will depend on where you're based - my guys does our 50 items for £50 and comes to my house to do it.
