I've been on the lake only two summers now, and I haven't had any internet...however, with the kids back in school, it really is a necessity for homework, teacher sites, etc..   My internet provider is Netwurx out of Hartford. They will send a truck and run their pole up to see if you have good reception from their tower. I've had no trouble. Their number #800-638-9879.

  netwurx does not work on south end - at least not for us

  Netwurx and Pluto share the same towers. Their speeds can be between 1600 and 300 downloading, and between 400 and 50 uploading, depending on rain conditions and how many people are online at the time. When it's good its great. When it's bad, it's almost dead, especially on weekends when there is no support beyond Saturday morning.

  I use Pluto and very rarely have issues...unless the tower is down...which isn't very often. :) ...not sure what Netwurx costs, but Pluto is very reasonable, I think.

  Patty Heiser we also live on Krahn Dr. We utilize Netwurx. However we are experiencing a "noise" interference. Netwurx has said that it appears to be a 900 mhz interference that consistenly drops our internet conection at about 10 PM every night. We do not yet know where this interference originates. They may investigate. It can be an alarm system or security surveilance system (in the neighborhood), or something of this nature. If you decide to utilize Netwurx you have to have them test the area for this interference before commiting.

  Satellite is not much better than dial-up. I've had Netwurx and their predecessor IDC, but the service keeps getting worse. I'd expect that on busy weekends, but even last weekend, I had problems getting pages to load. Something else that annoys me about them is every time my credit card on file expires, they send me a dunning past due notice and then almost immediately shut me off.
