  Kit buying... I'm signed up for the base camp thing and the 2nd recce, both in late Jan. I've got "normal" kit for running in southern England, but nothing up to a Cumbrian winter. Is there anywhere in London which sells decent kit? Taped seamed weatherproof stuff, proper poles etc? Logically I think I'll find it hard to drive up there, shop in a rush and do those events properly. Shoes... they'll be soft ground and rock right, so what kind of sole is best? I'm a Salomon fan, just because they suit my shape of foot.

  UD womens vest is excellent BUT....if you use a bladder in it there isn't a lot of room for other stuff. Consider carefully how much capacity you will need. I found it slightly less hot than a backpack as it sits quite high up. I've got myself a bigger UD pack, which I'll be testing out tomorrow on a long run. If I get on well with it I may very well consider selling my women's one (can't really justify having two!). If I do sell it Heather Jenner I'd happily offer you first dibbs.   I recommend getting a bumbag from peteblandsports.co.uk £15. You can carry all sorts of stuff, including proper food like Mars Bars and flapjacks and it does not interfere with your running. You can also get a waterproof in there. Ideal for long runs
