How does a person new to the Dayton area find what bars to go to to hear a live band? Is there one source for a guide to the local music scene? If you are new to the area, you don't know names of bands and what kind of music they play.

Rebekah - I run the local site, Music Connection- Dayton, OH recommended above by my adorable and wonderful comrades Lyle Runner, Jacob Collins, Jonny Dread, and Mike Emmons! I too asked that same question one day, which is how my site was born! At www.musicconnectiondayton.com, along with a TON of other stuff, on the home page you will find a free pdf guide with over 400+ local acts (sorted by type - acoustic or electric, etc and style - covers, original, both). I also provide a premium version of that same guide which contains acts' public contact info and links to their social media sites. It's free for local, listed musicians and $10 for others. I update that quarterly to keep it current. The above group that Mike Emmons tagged is my attempt to relay as many local events as possible, in a semi-orderly fashion, and is an excellent way to find local venues doing shows. I used to provide a free listing of venues and local services, but it's currently in an upgrade status and isn't available. I'm hoping to have that back out by this summer. My website is a definite must hit though.
