  TREE BRANCH HELP!!! We just had a very large tree branch come down in our front yard and it's blocking the sidewalk and a portion of Riverside. Does anyone have a recommendation for someone I could call to get help with this ASAP? I'm worried that it's going to cause a car crash or something. Thanks!

  After some detective work and some phone calls to the Chamber of Commerce and Nashville PD, here are some facts: BGM owner's name is Ray A. McClain. According to the COC, he was operating the dry cleaners without a license since 2012. Nashville PD has an address on him (which I was able to find for $1.98). The suggestion from the officer was to call the non-emergency line at 862-8600, have an officer come to the house, and file a complaint. He indicated that the officer taking the complaint could then go to the house and ask about any missing clothes. Not that it's really relevant to this issue, but I also looked up Ray A. McClain's criminal background record and he has a long list of arrests for assaults, threats, and traffic violations. Guess next time I will be a bit more vigilant in choosing who I do business with.

We have two smaller dogs, any issues with animals in the area? Also, any suggestions for eat, drink, and play in the neighborhood?

  Welcome to the neighborhood Rebecca! We are also on the 1300 block of Lischey (A late welcome from us to you as well Devon!) Overall, I feel very safe in the area, but agree that everyone should always take precaution. We live in close proximity to the convenience store and in comparing notes with neighbors, feel like we actually live in one of the more lively sections of the neighborhood in regards to people & traffic. We’ve been at our place a little over 4 years now and when we moved in we did have someone try to break into our car, but it was the only incident we experienced and honestly I just chalked it up to being the new kids on the block at the time. I mirror the advice of getting to know your neighbors, enjoying the peace of mind that comes with a alarm system (I recommend having one that loops your fire alarms in if you have an older home) and also loading the non-emergency number into your phone (615-862-8600) and just report anything you may feel concern about. Metro has been great about collecting information and increasing patrols in targeted areas. As you’ll see, community pages like this can be an excellent way to find information and connect with some of your more distant neighbors. Stray and loose dogs are an issue, so as a fellow dog owner, I recommend a secure fenced yard for your fur babies, keeping them on lead if you walk thru the neighborhood and just try to be a positive example of a pet owner in general. I’ve personally found that my own dogs and also my interest in the neighborhood cats have been a great way to initiate dialogue with neighbors young & old. Now the fun stuff. Unfortunately most of our favorite eats are on the other side of Gallatin (Five Pts Pizza, Tenn16, HopStop, Jeni’s ice cream, etc.) but I’m hopeful we will have some new gems pop up soon, especially around the developing area close to the Roxy Theater —fingers crossed! And of course the popular Holland House & Pharmacy Burger Parlor & Beer Garden are just right down the road. ...whoa that post got long!
