What geographic areas does Giggle Fiber serve? Will there be expansion to new areas?
-Giggle Fiber serves almost all of Monrovia and Arcadia. We are concentrating on upgrading and expanding our network within those two cities. If we achieve a high level of success, we may look at selected expansion.
How did you come up with that funny name?
-We started calling it Gigabit Fiber, since our plan is to extend gigabit service options to all customers. Then we compared our rates and speed to other companies, and we were so much better it was funny. It was a giggle. So we changed the company name.
It sounds like Google Fiber, no?
-It does a little. We are not associated with them at all, but we are cheering what they are doing in other cities and hope they have great success.
Why no 12 month contracts or promo rates?
-There is no need for it. We make a fair margin on the rates we charge, and our regular rates are lower than Time Warner's promo rates. If we provide good value, we won't need a contract to keep our customers.
Why open a store in Old Town?
-To demonstrate the power of super high speed Internet. Imagine five TV sets all streaming different movies at the same time, while two others are connected and playing online games, while someone else is on the phone. That's our store. All on a single connection. It's just like many homes in Arcadia and Monrovia.
Plus we show how easy it is to use new technology. And we sell modems and cool devices.
What about bundling discounts?
-Most often, bundling turns out bad for the customer. Technology and regulations have changed so much that now consumers are better off being free to choose their best deal among many providers for each service. Not being squeezed into buying too much from one company.
Giggle offers a discount on our phone service as the Internet speed increases. But that's simply an incentive to increase your speed level.
No video provided at all?
-Giggle doesn't directly offer video. But we have affiliation... show more agreements with DIRECTV and Champion Broadband. We can arrange for discounted rates and special packages, but the actual service and billing is provided by them.
Does Giggle offer service to business customers?
-We have hundreds of business customers, using both Internet and phone. Many are direct fiber connections and already have access to gigabit level service.
Can I get Gigabit speeds now at my house?
-Possibly, depending on your address. Giggle Fiber is on schedule for wide availability of gigabit service starting in October 2014.
We will give existing customers priority on upgrading their speeds, so consider joining up now. Our current speeds and rates are the best available anyway.
