I had a trial hair and makeup done for my upcoming wedding only a few weeks ago. During the trial I was comfortable and had friendly small talk with the artist. I thought I was happy with my hair and makeup while I was in front of a large circular LED light so I left initially feeling confident. Only to get home and take a few pictures myself and notice that I looking very orange and lost under the overall makeup. I compared my inspiration photos to the service I received and decided that I would take a day or two to think about it and make a final decision on if I have wanted Hamanas artistry to do my makeup and hair on my wedding day. A few days past and I still felt like I looked very orange and I made the decision that I was not happy with my services. So I emailed Hamana on May 13th and asked for my deposit back as though I would not like to have her artists do my make up and I gave explanation as why. Hamana responds saying that the deposit is non-refundable because all the things I listed under my reasoning can be changed on the day of my wedding. I friendly explained to her that I lost confidence in pursuing her artists on my big day and that Hamana never stated that the deposit was non refundable when I paid the $100 deposit. Please also keep in mind that I did not sign a contract with Hamanas artistry. At this time I searched all Hamanas artistries social media and website and also found that no where on both did Hamana ever state that deposits were non refundable. I even went as far as taking a screen recording to prove that it wasn’t stated anywhere cause I had a feeling that Hamana would try to pull a quick one on me and change the website. Which Hamana did change the policies last night (May 24th) after over a week of me asking for a refund of my deposit. I still have yet to see my refund even with having evidence that no contract was signed, and no policy was on Hamanas artistry media when I asked for my refund. Very disappointed as I am feeling trapped by this company because all makeup is “adjustable” and that I feel as though I would never had the option of changing my makeup company once my deposit was paid.
