About us
Crocus cafe was set up in 2004 as a social enterprise organization based around eight core values or "ethos":
1. Community
2. Volunteer-led

The cafe is run by a group of volunteers (the Board of Directors) and is predominantly volunteer-led.
At Crocus cafe, we serve the local community with food and drink at not-for-profit prices, and any profit that is made goes back into promoting our ethos and supporting local community projects.
We welcome all types of volunteers and are dedicated to making sure that they gain valuable work experience while with us. Volunteering at Crocus cafe is a great way to make friends and get involved with the local community; it is also a great opportunity for people looking to gain work experience and improve upon their skills.

FareShare is at the centre of two of the most urgent issues that face the UK: food poverty and food waste. TONS of perfectly edible food gets thrown away from supermarkets every day. Fareshare has contracts with the supermarkets to collect this and donate it to groups/charities that can distribute it. All they all for is a payment of around £500 a year. That is INCREDIBLY cheap - And all for the good of saving perfectly decent food from being thrown into landfill.
