  a mom on the page looking for advice on ecce year and starting her child in school at 4 or 5 "Hi RBM'S I am looking for advice please. My ds is 3 since March. He is eligible for the free year in preschool in Sept 2013. This would mean he will be 4 and a half years starting National School in 2014. I did it want to start him in National School until 2015 when he would be 51/2years. What I would like to know is can I get the ecce year changed and also what age do people recommend from experience for a child to start National School..? He is my first child so not sure what to do. Please keep my name anon."

  "Children born between 02 February and 30 June in any year will be eligible to start in two separate years.
