Finding and choosing a Doula for a VBAC or repeat C-section, advice? I've recently found out I'm pregnant with baby 2, and I'd like to attempt a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean). One thing I've decided is that I'd love to have a doula present. I've looked into doula training myself, and I feel strongly that a birth coach and ally would be invaluable to me as I attempt a natural, epidural-free birth. My last was an induced birth that led to a c-section, so I'm hoping to have a different experience this time.
Have any of you VBAC moms or other VBAC hopefuls go with a doula? How did you find a good one, and what kind of critera did you use to choose? I'm looking for someone in the Boston, MA area, if anyone has any recommendations.
And yes, just in case, I'm going to prepare myself for the possibility of a repeat C-section. But I think a doula would be helpful in that case as well. So if anyone used a doula for a section, I'd love to hear how that went too!
