I am flying form Melbourne to LAX with a 3 day stop over, and then to columbia, backpacking throughout South America. in terms of things such as medical, Cancellation and Luggage, should i aim to cover all of these, and if so, up to how much cover should I need?   I have taken 2 kinds of travel insurance while travelling from Aussie to Asia: STA travel standard and plus. They work with http://www.allianz.com.au/ I didn't have any problem making a claim (a fair one) The price was good and they had excelent cover. I had to call from Chiang Mai to Oz because I got dengue and they helped me and guide me very carefully.
