I've been at the craft table now for over 40 years, dabbling in this and that. I think I've tried most things over the years (test me - I love to try new things :) )
In 2012, while attempting to de-stash my craft cupboard (well room, actually - these things have a habit of taking over your life!), I came across some polymer clay character buttons I had made as a teenager and I suddenly felt the need to create more. Wow, how polymer clay has changed over the years! I now discover it's a wonderful versatile art medium with massive potential to create wonderful works of art. Just check out some of the other pages/people I follow to see what I mean.
Anyhow, back to the story. At the time, my son was suffering with anxiety, so I made him a little 'love token' pebble to take to school to remind him I was thinking of him. A yoga teacher friend saw them and asked if I would make them for her clients and so the 'Peace Pebble' was born. I'm utterly stunned at how popular they have become, but so humbled by the range of stories why people buy them to help with anxiety, loss, depression, love, joy ..... it's a wonderful journey I'm on and I'm so happy to share it with you.
My pebbles are 100% polymer clay. No paint is used. Standard ones measure approx 35mm x 10mm Extra large pebbles (good for bigger adult hands) measure approx 45mm x 15mm After curing, they are sanded, waxed and buffed until they are ultra smooth. They can be personalised too.
I still make buttons and am now starting to write tutorials for all kinds of polymer clay projects.
The formal bit: All my items are individually designed and handmade by me. Sometimes I collaborate with other artists, but endeavour to maintain a 100% handmade product.
As much as possible, I reuse and recycle materials for packaging as I hate waste.
