  Missy M. wrote: Katie Bohannon Photography lacks professionalism and communication. Do not use. We hired Katie Nov. 2016 to be our wedding photographer this upcoming April (2017). We liked her pictures online and hired her immediately. I contacted her via FB Messenger and responses were prompt, all responses arrived within the day/few hours from when they were sent, all days of the week. We received the contract via email, signed and sent it the retainer. We agreed to meet for an engagement session around Christmas since we currently live out of state and that was the next (and only) time we would be in town before the wedding. When it came time to take the pictures, Katie unfortunately got shingles. Originally she stated that she would still be able to meet (without any pressure from us). Three hours before the shoot Katie's husband contacted me via FB Messenger begging me to cancel the session and offered compensation through other services that Katie provides. My fiance and I cancelled the shoot and said we would agree on compensation another time. Following the incident, we did not hear from Katie. I messaged her a month later explaining that we still wanted her as a photographer, that her lack of communication was worrisome, and offered up a potential compensation agreement. There was no response (FB Messenger sent a read receipt almost immediately after it was sent). Two days later I sent another message, it was read with no response. Two days after that my fiance and I decided we could not use her services due to a lack of communication and sent her a cancellation request via Email. Within 20 minutes she replied to my FB messages. She claimed that she had not read any of the FB Messages until that day and that she had not received any emails (I was CC'd on the email and I received it). I sent her the email via FB Messenger, requested a cancellation contract and a refund on our retainer (due to the fact that we felt she did not complete her side of the signed contract- "The parties agree to positive cooperation and communication for the best possible result within the definition of this assignment" and because of her Limit of Liability: "In the unlikely event of severe medical, natural, or other emergencies, it may be necessary to retain an alternative photographer. Katie Bohannon Photography will make every effort to secure a replacement photographer able and/or willing to provide a similar package as chosen in this contract at the same/similar tariff. If such a situation should occur and a suitable replacement is not found, responsibility and liability is limited to the return of all payments received for the event package". Katie promised a cancellation contract that evening and would not answer a direct question about the refund of the retainer. Since then I have attempted to contact her through phone call (6x, leaving 2 voice messages, all during "office hour" times), text (to which she said "I'm available to text almost any time"), FB Messenger, and email with no response for almost 3 weeks. We have yet to receive our cancellation contract or a retainer refund. For an event as important and expensive as a wedding, Katie Bohannon Photography is not a reliable photographer to use.
