  Hi. We're looking to purchase a 105 yr old house in Des Moines. The exterior needs to be painted. It has lead paint. All the painters giving us estimates are telling us to put on siding. We are looking for advice and information. How long does exterior paint last? One painter said since the wood had been exposed to water it won't take new paint well and in 6 months it will be peeling and we'll be disappointed. Thoughts?
