  Just put cardboard on the top layer of the compost over the winter keep toping up with kitchen waste /cardboard layers over winter.check out wigglywigglers.com

  Definitely agree with a wormery. I haven't managed to kill mine in 5 years and they get very little attention! They eat (almost) all our kitchen waste and give us worm wee and compost in return. Check out the wiggly Wigglers website.
