Own a couple mini quads and I'm hooked. I wanted to get a 250 but I didn't want to just buy it...so I thought I'd make one. I've got a ton of scrap composite and aluminum sheet and plates. I think I'm going to stick close to the Qav 250 dimensions. But instead of a solid 3mm base plate I have some 3/8 cf with an aramid honeycomb core. I also have some 1/2 aluminum honeycomb core, but I figured that's too heavy for what I'm looking to build right now. Either going to go with a square cf tube for the arms or just cut my arms into the baseplate honeycomb. Any ideas to provide a solid motor mount? And suggestions for a first time builder?
