Sessions are based on the individual needs of her clients. Liz R. asked:Hi I'm looking for suggestions for a possible case of shingles. My 20 year old daughter has pain full bumps on the right side of scalp down to her neck. Swollen glands on that side. Pain is more at night. Doctor suspects shingles. Is there a protocol I could use with her to help reduce the pain. Any suggestions welcome.Melanie S. replied:Ouch Liz - so sorry to hear your daughter has shingles. I'm speaking from experience when I say this can be a very serious and difficult issue to treat. You definitely want to do Energy Tracker and see what is showing for her. From an Oriental Medicine perspective we look at toxic Liver Fire - Gall Bladder and Stomach can also be involved. It is important to Clear Heat and Cool Blood so you also have to look to Spleen too. There are so many different things to be aware of depending on what stage she is in - also this is CONTAGIOUS for anyone who has never had Chicken Pox they could get it now from an active Shingles outbreak. Shingles is also a virus - Herpes Zoster so there are a variety of viral supplements to be considered along with various topicals. Yes, the Amino Acid L-Lysine is an important nutrient for shingles but generally isn't enough to take care of it on its own. It may be important for her to take the prescription meds to move it through as quickly as possible. Some of the above mentioned Energy Medicine techniques may be helpful, but the best thing would be to do Energy Tracker. Yes, calming the nervous system by Sedating Bladder would be great. It's also important to clear the emotional stressor associated too. Which would be my focus in working with a 20 yr old. Generally Shingles comes from physical trauma to the spine, compromised immune function and/or stress. Boosting the immune function and pain relief techniques will be important too. However, you do not want to touch the area if there is an active breakout. Besides the fact it will be way too painful to touch anyway. Shingles always has to attach to the spine in her case it's the upper cervical vertebrae. You want to really take it seriously if it is one the head as you do NOT want it to get into the eyes. You can try Brazilian Toe and Zone Tapping to reduce the pain. If you have an Acupuncturist in your area I would highly recommend going for several treatments. If you aren't comfortable with energy testing for the nutrients, then I highly recommend working with an Advanced Energy Medicine Practitioner in combination with an Acupuncture Physician.
