Looking for advice on possible TMJ management for geriatric (33 year old)gelding...we were first thinking it was teeth issue as he had the same pain issues in the past and it was infected teeth. (he does get annual dental floating).. pain is managed with bute very well. He is tender and sensitive around his forehead and jaw joint area... not extreme pain but it is like he has a bad headache. I know there are injections available but would rather try other options first. he is not ridden but is exercised at liberty and worked in hand. Otherwise he is in excellent shape considering his age, no bad arthritis issues. He gets a joint suppliment which has been beneficial for his mobility. He is missing 4 back molars so he gets a good portion of his diet senior feed and what hay he want to eat....when he does chew hay his jaw squeeks.. other than this issue he is very healthy and sound.
Thanks for any help/advice..
