I hear there's internet somewhere central -- can you actually check messages using this? Is there some sort of central switchboard?   Gloria: My two cents: check out Globalstar sat phone rentals at globalcomsatphone.com - they have some reasonable prices on rentals and service. I would most definitely keep this thing sealed up in a ziplock bag unless you're actually using it
