Grew up in Pittsburgh in the fifties and sixties and bringing my new husband back for a visit in June. What's a good place to eat on Mount Washington to watch sun go down over the Point and does the incline run that late in the evening?
Hannah M. replied:
The incline runs until 12:45 am! And looking on the Duquesneincline.org website here's a few restaurants that are listed within walking distance :) Altius, Bella vista, coal hill steak house, lemont, Monterey bay fish grotto, vue 421
Kathy M. replied:
Be sure you take the Duquesne incline. It's independent and the upper station has some atmosphere.
Going to be going to Pittsburgh...going to a Pirate's game...any recommendations for hotels or other fun places to go?
Carrie J. replied:
Be sure to ride one of the inclines up Mount Washington for a great view of the city! http://duquesneincline.org/ http://www.stationsquare.com/info/inclines
Need to find restaurant on mt Washington ( preferred) for late lunch after Chauntey Kessler graduation ..wanted Monterey bay ( they don't open until 5) was thinking 3 or 4 at latest .. Suggestions
Go to The O in Oakland and eat a death-inducing hot dog and fries. Drink a beer in a church (http://www.churchbrew.com/). Ride up the side of Mt. Washington (http://www.duquesneincline.org/) and count the bridges. Eat a plateful of amazing pierogi (maybe at Gooski's?), lots of good, good pierogi. I think you can still walk across the Smithfield Street Bridge, which has killer views of the Incline and rivers. // Or, you could just go to a Pirates game and drink some fine western PA kraft beer like rolling rock or IC light...
