Is there a network or something to find a qualified estate planner/attorney? I'm trying to find an estate planner/attorney, someone to help me figure out how to structure things for my kids when I should leave. I've been reading so much about bad estate planners that it's kinda froze me in my tracks, but I really need to get this done.
How do I go about finding a qualified professional that has a good track record of estate planning? Is there something specific I should be looking for when looking up estate planners? I get this is vague, I just dread dropping dollars on a professional to do a job that I don't really understand the legalities of and then my kids being screwed after I'm gone because he didn't really know what he was doing.
Any advice is appreciated.
Edit: I'm looking in the Ft Hood, Texas area if there happens to be any knowledgeable recommendations that can be made.

Check with friends for recommendations. You can also check with Actec.org, the American college of trust and estate Council for a member in your area.
