About us
I am happiest when I have a camera in my hands creating artistic portraits of your newborn, wedding, pregnant belly or family! My aim is to give you exactly what you want, and if I haven't tried that style before- then no problem - let's do it! I will put my artistic twist on it and enjoy the new challenge. If you haven't any firm ideas of style - don't worry - I have plenty and lean towards the vintage/rustic style of available light photography and I really love that you trust me to capture your newborn/wedding/family in a way that complements the soul of your family. I feel very priveleged to have this honour and will go out of my way to please you. I have some awesome newborn and wedding props and some equally awesome locations as well as a studio for styled, more intimate shots.
I am based in Townsville, however I am equipped to travel for your special wedding day, multiple bookings or sporting event. I have covered weddings, fashion shows and sporting events throughout Queensland from Birdsville to Mt Isa to the Daintree and everywhere in between! So call me if you need a freelance photographer for your event.
I have just launched (2014) Photography by Red Sky's exclusive "Country Wedding in the City" location equipped with log cabin, rustic farm machinery including an old Toyota, baths, a swing old wooden yards, wagon wheels and HORSES yes HORSES all set up in Karen's back paddock! This location is 10 minutes from Willows and 25 mins from the city so it's perfect for your rustic location shoot. There is a creek below Karen's farm too which runs at certain times of the year and makes for amazing photography with reflections and ethereal light. This location can of course be used for family and other photography too!
I am very interested in doing collaborative projects where we can help each other build our respective businesses. I donate quite a few sessions for charity or worthy causes too so don't be shy to approach me. I love meeting new people.
SPORTS - yes,... show more you will see a lot of sports on my fb page because being a sporty person myself I love the challenge of capturing action as well. Feel free to tag yourself and I love it when I see my photo as your profile pic! These are only low res, so if you're after a print, I do really good quality printing up to A4 and have designed many team photos for different sports.
This year (2014) I am keen to get "A Day in the Life ...." off the ground where I will visit your working cattle/agricultural property for 1,2,3 days to capture all styles of photography. The muster/ harvest + family portraits + your homestead/property, prized animals - sort of a "one stop shop" of everything and THEN present it in a beautiful magazine style hard covered book that you will be able to hand down to successive generations. And you don't have to go anywhere - I will come to you! Please contact me for more information.
Who am I? A mother, grandmother, wife, sister, daughter and friend to LOTS of very special and wonderful people who are my biggest supporters of my photographic crusade that's been going on for over 30 years now :)
