Movers to take big items away (trash or donations)? Greenlake area Hey there! I’m looking for recommendations / knowledge. I’m visiting my dad for a few days and using the time to get his house organized.
He has broken bunk beds and ancient exercise equipment he’s been meaning to get rid of for 10+ years... is it possible for me to organize this before I leave Saturday night? What would I need?
I have two main thoughts: rent a truck, pack it myself, drive to a dump (where are those?)
OR
hire movers who could load things into a truck and take care of them.
Thoughts on the beat course of action? Reputable movers? How to dispose of broken furniture? Answers to questions I should have asked but didn’t?
Thank you in advance.

If you need someone to help you move heavy things, you can hire day labor from Casa Latina: www.casa-latina.org
Hey neighbors! I'm looking for a handyman for a variety of projects. Has anyone used the day labor out in front of Lowe's? What was your experience like?
Leens S. replied:
Use casa Latina instead. http://casa-latina.org

Yep, Casa Latina has skilled laborers and they are great. Also, available pretty quickly.
Anyone have good recommendations on cleaning services for apartments? I'm moving out of my building at the end of this month and would love to pay a cleaner directly instead of going through my building's expensive option.

The alley behind our house is overgrown with blackberries, and the vines (in addition to vermin!) are coming into our yard. Any recommendations for professionals who can deal with this? The vines are about 8 feet high, currently. Thanks in advance!

Using Casa Latina is a much better way to hire day laborers. Check them out! http://casa-latina.org
I'm looking for someone to paint the exterior of my house. Recommendations?
Wendy M. replied:
La Casa Latina is the BEST! You have to supply all the tools and supplies. But they can send you skilled labor. Usually English is minimal, but I just use google translate. http://casa-latina.org/
Hi Neighbors! Do you know a good lawn service or any high school/college students looking to make some money this weekend that would be willing to tackle the forest that is my yard? I've let my mowing duties get away from me and need a one time job to get back on track. Thanks!

http://casa-latina.org I can't vouch for their services...yet, but their prices are pretty appealing and they have a good mission statement. We'll likely be trying them out soon.
I cut down a backyard full of blackberries and I need someone to come rake them up and haul them away. Any recommendations for someone in the neighborhood?
Do you use a housecleaner? If yes, and if you like yours, would love a recommendation.

Hi, Cheryl : I use Casa Latina for most of my workers, indoors and out. Housecleaners are $15/hr and so are outdoors people. Skilled laborers are more. Casa Latina also offers education for immigrants, who're they're screened so you know you're not hiring axe murders. Expect my front yard to start looking a bit better next week. Indoors, too. http://casa-latina.org/ smile emoticon
