  Anyone know how to make solar-powered air conditioners? (primarily to cool air, but humidity control would also be desirable) I want to find out more about how air conditioning works, to see if it's possible to create a combined solar heater and cooler.

  I've been pondering whether something like a Zeer fridge could be used: basically evaporating water cools a surface that air flows past. This could double up as initial stage of water purification, eg. it could possibly be linked to greywater system. In theory, the rising vapour could be captured in such a way as to allow it to condense and be returned to the base of the system, creating a closed loop where very little water is lost to the atmosphere. http://practicalaction.org/zeerpots
