  My 29 weeker is starting kindergarten next week. I can't believe how time flies. It seems like yesterday we were holding him in our arms at the NICU wondering what his future would hold. As he starts kindergarten though I am really concerned about his weight and his picky eating. Right now he is underweight, so much so he's not even on the weight growth chart. We have tried everything from 2-3 pedisures a day to full fat cream in mac and cheese and nothing is helping. He is 5 1/2 and hovering between 30-32 lbs. He just doesn't like to eat. So I am really worried about him not eating at school and losing weight. We can't afford for him to lose weight. Has anyone else struggled with weight gain issues? Does anyone have any suggestions for school lunches and food at home?

  (Traci) Some programs start at 2, but it can take some time to get into them. Personally, I think there needs to be some room in the feed schedule to allow for oral eating. My son is no where near weaning, but we have always left room for him to eat some of his calories each day. Now he eats about 15-20% of his calories. You won't eat if you are full. I will post to the group. You should also check out Feeding Matters - www.feedingmatters.org - they may have something that is helpful - they focus on kids learning to eat.   From Laura Petersen: Hi! We are moving from northern Nevada to a town located near Tucson, Arizona and was wondering if anyone can give me advice on doctors. My son is seen by Ent (we really need a good one since his airway is one of the main reasons why he has a g tube), GI, Pulmonology, feeding therapy, speech therapy, general Surgery, and genetics (but we don't go back in to see a geneticist for a while). Also we are looking for a great pediatrician who can work with the specialists easily. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
