  My family of 6 (4 young children) and a nanny will be moving to innisfail early January. I am after some information from those passionate about the town. 1. Often there are places to go that only local know about our nanny will be coming straight from the Netherlands and want her to experience the true Australia. 2. Where should we go to buy fruit and veg and also meat (looking for quality and value) 3. We are having issues with real estates ( we are good tenants) have 2 homes ourselves and both of us work full time - but are still looking for a house (4 bedroom is a must and pets must also be allowed) happy to drive up to 15 minutes from innisfail. Any leads or tips will be appreciated. 4. What festivals must go to events are on in the area that we need to remember. Thank you for your help and will be nice to meet you at some stage.

  1 - once you get here, have a chat to parents at the school, local butcher etc, as there are so many spots its hard to list them all (with directions on here) 2 - fruit n veg, there are a number of fruit n veg stalls around the area. Depending on where i am or what i want determines which one i go to. Meat, i use the south johnstone butchers, or the butchers in the middle of town (i cant think of the name, can anyone help me out there?) 3 - everyone is having trouble in the house hunting at the moment. 4 - we just had the town christmas party (streets closed off, stalls, carols, santa etc) there is a bike show in wangan in september???. The innisfail show happens at the showgrounds in the middle of the year. They are talking about bringing back the harvest festival, hopefully that will happen in the next few years. Feast of the Senses is a festival all about the different variety of food in the area, not only the type of food grown, but different cultures. theres a big fishing comp here in november?? Also kurrimine beach has a massive fishing tournament and you can camp, it has a heap of kids activities. The innisfail races is usually a big day, followed by a big night out in town. Hope this helped a bit :-)
