Hi everyone, I'm currently in Australia but planning to retire in SE Asia (location still to be decided) in the next few months.
Part of my planning includes finding suitable medical/evac insurance in case of a major health problem or accident. I'm pretty fit and healthy at 51 and I'm prepared to pay for any minor health and medical expenses locally.
However, I would like the reassurance of having a suitable insurance policy that will cover the cost of getting me to a nearby western-style hospital if required and medivac back to Australia in a worst-case scenario.
I'm not looking for gold-plated cover but would like to know that I am covered if worst comes to worst.
A question for the expats living in Bali, can you tell me what insurance companies you use and recommend and approximately how much you pay per annum if you don't mind sharing this info. Feel free to private message me if you prefer.
Thanks.
Ps. Just to clarify, I'm not after travel insurance that covers lost baggage, delayed flights etc. Just purely medical/evac for continual cover a year at a time that covers travel and living in most SE Asian countries. Thanks
