  We have a 1997 Chevy Blazer and recently, while driving it, my husband says the gauges just go out and then come back on again. The engine doesn't quit or anything, just the gauges quit. Any ideas what my be causing this, and any recommendations for an honest car repair person to work with? It's a pretty old car, so we don't want to sink much money into it. Thanks!

  happened to our '05 tahoe with the speedometer and gas gauge. if it's the same issue they will eventually stop working altogether. chevy had part issues used in the instrument cluster - specifically the stepper motors behind the gauges. i used circuitboardmedics.com (in SC) to rebuild the motors and only have positive things to say about them. you have to send them the cluster but it was way cheaper than any dealer or shop i called. was told chevy doesn't sell that part anymore so they would be sourcing a salvaged cluster (with the same bad stepper motors). good luck.
