Happy Cats Hotel was opened by me 10 years ago last December. Several months after opening I was asked if I would consider looking after the rescue cats for Maesteg Animal Welfare Society. This involved feeding, cleaning & rehoming cats. This was successfully carried out for over 5 years! It was hard work running the two businesses but I managed it! The Hotel was still young & growing in popularity & yes, it is a business & no one runs a business for nothing Ben Hill! The rescue on the other hand was all done on a voluntary basis & at the becon call to all prospective adopters who would turn up any time to suit themselves! Including weekends & bank holidays; I even had two families turn up on New Year's Day! I stopped doing the rescue work a few years ago when the Hotel became busier & I was having to be on standby for an elderly & sick family member. One particular day I had to turn away a potential adopter making my apologies as I had been called to assist the family member. They complained to the head honcho of the Welfare Society saying I was unhelpful & would not let them see the cats! So you see you can't please everybody all the time! My prices in the cattery are no different to local competition.
