I'm looking to lease the Prime and need a little help. I leased my first Chevy Bolt in 2018. The dealership dropped the sale price to account for Chevy receiving the tax credit. It was great, a win-win. This was in Monterey, CA. Then I bought a Bolt in SD, but turned in the lease when I went on deployment (didn't need 2 payments while gone). When I get back from my next deployment, we want to get the Prime, but would prefer to lease it. Kearney Mesa said it's a $5k markup and no discount. Are there any dealers around here without a markup? (Buying cool cars here is so expensive!) My next question is, would Toyota be open to this benefit being shared with the customer? Has anyone tried this and been successful or unsuccessful? It's a reasonable request to do this, and I don't want to buy another car yet. Thanks for the help.
jimsd replied:My suggestion is to expand your search. I couldn't get any of the SD dealers to negotiate on the markup last year, so we ended up getting one in Costa Mesa where they at least cut the markup in half. Use the spreadsheet found elsewhere in the subreddit to see which dealers are getting Primes and also check [cargurus.com](https://cargurus.com) or [cars.com](https://cars.com) (cargurus seemed better for this area). Try checking out Temecula, I think I've seen some people getting better deals up there.

Tigga573 replied:I used a company named autoloss.com last year, though their website seems to be down now. Honestly, you can use Google and do the work yourself. It's mostly just knowing the basics of the law and then finding comparable vehicles nearby (using cars.com and CarGurus.com). Basically you find comparable cars with no accidents and some with accidents to figure out the price difference.

I should also add that I've bought two cars from CarLotz, had good experiences with both. With that said, I think social media has changed the way major dealers approach sales as well, so also had good experiences at a couple others I'll name as soon as I can look them up/remember. Edit - good experiences at Pearson Kia (they actually showed me how much they paid for the car at auction, and how much profit they'd make) and Whitten Brothers on Midlothian.
