The museum occupies two early 19th century buildings in Old Town Alexandria. The buildings were the site of the Stabler and Leadbeater Apothecary business throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries. The interior of the 107 building has been left just as it was when the store closed in 1933, from the furnishings to the 1850s decor to the 1930s contents in the medicine bottles.
Please visit our gift shop and support the museum's education and conservation programs.
Any suggestions for fun, cheap local things to do this week with no school?
