Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but I'm looking for enough material to create, a Scottish great kilt. I'm 6'2" and 250. Looking to see where i can purchase enough material to create it.

Kilts-n-stuff.com has a selection of great kilts ranging in weight, they have a few clan tartans but I would stay away from those for period purposes, except for maybe something like the Armstrong tartan, that while the clan is lowland, the tartan is similar to many other clans and possibly indicative of a general tartan pattern. They also have a tartan based off of what was worn in Braveheart. Obviously the kilts in Braveheart were not period, but the tartan would be a good all around tartan to wear. Also, a plain color kilt would not have been unheard-of, a black or brown kind of thing, if your persona is poorer. The website above orders their stuff directly from Scotland, so it can take a while to receive your order, if you need it earlier I suggest going to a fabric store and getting some wool material as mentioned above. I wear my great kilt more than I do pants.
Would anyone recommend a place where I can order some lightweight Clan Donald tartan fabric? Wool is too heavy for the style of skirt I have in mind, plus I'd need lot of fabric so it'll be too pricey anyway.
