I have had experience with dealing with Robert Keyloun who owns Bobby K Architects and the following is my saga;
I engaged him to design a basement project for me in October, 2014. My wife and I signed off on the plans in December, 2014 with his designer, Chris Dowdell. It took Robert until March, 2015 to respond to various calls I had made to him and Chris as to the status of the plans for filing. Further, Robert Keyloun advised me on several occasions that I would have permits to start my job by May, 2015 assuring me that his expeditor, Samee Haider, had met with the building department regarding my job and it should not be an issue meeting my time frame to start the job.
Once I finally did receive a draft set of plans for my project, I had a consultant review them and he raised various issues that I had passed along to Robert to respond to which after multiple e-mails, text messages and phone calls he has never responded.
On June 5, 2015 I terminated Bobby K via a text, since he does not respond to phone calls, from the project which the next day he responded with a text asking “what happened?” Interesting enough that Monday I receive various NYC DOB documents that he wanted me to execute in order for him to file a REVIEW of the job for approval not even a request for a PERMIT to start the work. Clearly this validated my termination of Bobby K given he had misrepresented that status of his filing, the timing for my contractor to commence work, and obviously his ability to handle the job.
Stay away from Robert Keyloun \ Bobby K Architects. Robert Keyloun and his company, Bobby K, clearly are not the professionals you want to handle your job.
As a side note, I hired another architect on June 5th who had to create a complete set of plans given Robert Keyloun did not provide any working documents that I could use for filing and my new architect had a PERMIT issued on July 15th.
I plan to pursue reimbursement of the fees paid to Robert Keyloun and Bobby K Architects.
Recommendations for companies that do dormers and house extensions. I left a message for George parsons and they never called me back.
