Hello my name is Saskia and I love everything homemade! I got my first sewing machine when I was about 7 years old (now I am 40!) and that is when my mother taught me to sew. I started making pencil cases which I sold to my classmates, then aprons and so on. Since then I have been sewing in one form or another almost every day of my life. A new era in sewing for me came when someone kindly gave me an industrial overlocking machine, which opened up a new world of sewing for me. More recently I have purchased a dedicated embroidery machine which is just amazing. In between all of these delights I have also learnt to do upholstery and I undertake small upholstery commissions. I teach affordable sewing and upholstery to both adults and children from age 5. I run courses during weekends and school holidays, and have an ongoing drop in class three times a week. I offer specialised upholstery pieces combining embroidery and upholstery, mostly vintage or upcycled fabric, particularly sewing boxes, buttoned ottomans, and buttoned chairs. I run a sewing club at Two Waters Primary School, where children from reception upwards are taught to use a sewing machine. I undertake embroidery commissions, from personalised hoodies to special one off wedding gifts.
