  We recently rescued a St. Bernard from a pretty awful situation, private rescue not shelter. He is just over 1 year now, we were told by our vet to wait until he was about 15 months to neuter him. I have called around and it's at least $700! We have discovered BIG DOG=BIG EXPENSE. Does anyone know of a way to get a dog neutered at a lower cost? I want to make sure it is done safely and properly, just trying to find out if somewhere less expensive exists. Thanks!

She looks like she belong to a marathon runner lots of energy house trained obeys commands and is great with children. So we decided to not adopt the one we had already reserved at the pound! !   Golden state humane on Artesia and Atlantic. Don't know the price of dogs, but had my cat done Monday. Had to get shot first. That was 26. Then the neutering and microchip was 65. This included pain Meds and an ecollar. 562 423-8406

  I think some county shelters hand out spay/neuter certificates but I don't know what the policy is on that as far as who can get them and whatnot. Also, a few weeks ago, I believe it was LA county shelters doing free cat spay/neuters? But it said only while funding lasted so not sure if that is still going on. There are low cost spay/neuter clinics that some vets run and you'll have to look around for those but I have always gotten my animals fixed through the Golden State Humane Society. They are the least expensive and even offer low cost vaccinations/microchipping for your pets. I think when I got my cat spayed four years ago I paid $25 for everything, including pain meds for after and $10 for the chip. Not sure what the prices are now but you can find it on their website. Fixing my dog was pretty cheap last year, too, way less than I would have paid at a vet. If you do go through them, I highly recommend the Garden Grove facility, the staff overall is much friendlier and more efficient than the Long Beach clinic.

  http://www.goldenstatehumanesociety.com/ if you're looking for quality treatment at rock bottom prices. In North Long Beach, so if you think it's ghetto, you're right. No appointments, crowded parking and jammed waiting room. But there's a reason. Prices listed on their website. Most procedures are half cost of Primary Care and one third of Bixby Animal. I've been to both and found treatment and pricing inconsistent, but always multiples higher than Golden State. If you have time, Golden State is the way to go. Primary Care is next. Dr. A. at Bixby will get the job done and make you feel special. For emergencies the place down by the traffic circle was okay and much less than I expected.

  this place is great for shots, neutering, and other minor things. The only thing they dont do is x-rays. If I remember correctly I paid like $30-$50 to get my cat fixed and have a chip installed in case she got lost. I am looking for recommendations for places I can have her spay and vaccinated for VERY low cost! But, I want to make sure it is a reliable place, that does great work, no bad stories or animals getting hurt or not being treated well. Any suggestions?

  I've taken 3 dogs for many years to Golden State Humane Society on Artesia and Atlantic. I have had positive experiences with all of my pets. The employees are very loving, too. I recently read reviews on them, and they're not very positive, but my personal experience has been amazing. I think that ppl aren't realistic with their expectations there. It's SUPER low cost, so the wait can be pretty horrible. I call ahead and they actually tell you when they're busy, and if they think you should wait an hour or two before going in. I find that going until they almost close is good.

  I know that not everyone is fond of Golden State Humane Society, but they did a great job on my Maltese. Shortly after I adopted her I had her spayed and her umbilical hernia repair done at the same time. They only charged $30.00 for the repair and she healed quickly. For those who are not aware the hernia is generally caused by the pup's mother cutting the cord too close. My Maltese in Maui had the same problem, but never required surgery. After the surgery, my current Maltese was up and about playing in a couple of days. Their phone number is (562) 423-8406 and appts are necessary for surgery. The cost is actually between $30 and $40.
