  The only way to do an overlay is if the existing concrete is structurally sound with no chipping or lifting but can save you some money. The overlay can be applied as thin as a quarter of an inch and is stamp-able but is rarely recommended. It is usually safer to rip up the old stuff for lasting results. Rose C. Bell if you want I can come look at it tomorrow afternoon or evening and we will have a better idea of what needs to be done. You can check out my website www.customizedconcrete.org.
