  Hi, Does anyone on here know about old street names in the Port? Last time I was up about five years back, I failed miserably to find most of the addresses shown on the old census returns, where my family once lived. I'm planning a 'flying' visit at the beginning of September and would love to know if anyone might be able to clarify any of them. I assume that most of the old houses have long gone, but am curious about the roads. The only ones I can locate are Chapel St and Chapel Hill. The others were George St, The Brae and what looks like Polies St. Also be interested if anyone knows where the Commercial Hotel was. Thanks

  And for old street maps, look at any 1:250 map at www.old-maps.co.uk That shows the Commercial Inn on the 1872 map.
