  Hi all! My little guy is 10.5 months old and has congenital CMV. We have been doing ABM since he was about 6 months old and he has made some really wonderful progress (rolling, starting to scoot forward, engaging really well with everything around him). We are having issues in the oral motor department though. He had a swallow study at the end of July that didn’t show frank aspiration, but he has many clinical signs (choking while nursing, yucky swallows). We started feeding therapy then to try to address these issues. We saw an OT weekly for several months and despite her best efforts, we didn’t get very far with getting him to accept any foods. He doesn’t take a bottle or sippy cup either. He doesn’t bring toys to his mouth to explore. He is pretty adverse to anything in his mouth. Our OT believes that the reason for his refusal of solids is due to poor swallowing…maybe a feeding tube necessary :( He is very well nourished right now with breastmilk (90% percentile in weight!). I really want to believe that there is more that we can do before we go down that route. We have 2 awesome ABM practitioners who we see regularly, but am wondering if there are any ABM practitioners out there who might be SLPs as well and have worked specifically with feeding issues with kiddos?? We love the ABM approach so are hoping that someone with experience in both of those worlds can help us out?! Thanks! Pic of my chunk and his brother. They adore each other.

Is there a ABM trainer anywhere in Australia or the Pacific area who would be willing to come to Christchurch NZ to train people in a workshop. (Obviously its to work with SN kids)

  hello friends.. hope you all doing well.. my name is sumaiya I am from UAE ... my son is spastic cerebral palsy he is 6 years old... he isn't still having good neck control... its very difficult to get a good physiotherapist here in Dubai.. I heard about ABM method and no physiotherapist here knows about it... can u all please share some of videos of ur children of neck control excersizes back and sittng excersizes ets... I also heard about upsee ... how many of you use it and is there any other website other than firefly from where we can buy upsee in reasonable price.. we don't get the walkers for special children too here.. looking forward to a positive resonse from you all.. and in case if anyone here is selling their children walker which is suitable for 5 to 6 yrs please let me knw.. im interested in buying as these things are way too costly here...   I don't believe the Upsee is available from any other source than Firefly, the website of the creator of the Upsee. If there is anyway for you to bring your child to the States, I could show you lots of ways to use the Upsee to help your child learn more coordination of his head and torso in supported sitting and maybe even standing. I'd be glad to communicate with you about this on email but can only be sure that my recommendations will be beneficial if I have handled your child myself. Your child can benefit much more from the Upsee if you learn ways to use it beyond just dragging a child about as though the child is walking when the child is not walking. Have a good day!   Hello, There are several ABM practitioners in & around Ashville: John Robson & Lara Gilease,etc. who are certified & work with children but are not likely to be reimbursable by health insurance because they are not PT's. I think I may be the closest ABM practitioner to you who is a physical therapist and, therefore, my charges are potentially reimbursable from your insurance. I do not "accept" insurance but my services are often reimbursable if your health coverage includes out-of-network coverage for PT. I have another colleague in Herndon, VA which is very near me (15 mins. drive) who is also a PT & certified in Feldenkrais and ABM for Infants & Children who accepts several insurances.   Thank you, Hilary. I appreciate that as a compliment & recommendation to others. Rachel, I'm investigating extending my PT licensure to ME, NH, & MA so that parents in those locations can submit claims for reimbursements at whatever level their policies cover out-of-network PT. I do not "accept" insurance, i.e. I am not in-network with any health insurance companies. Parents pay me & I generate an invoice for them with the standard neuromuscular reeducation physical medicine codes so they can submit their claims.
