URGENT Hi everyone, my healthy 9 year old lab collapsed overnight and I took him to his vet to see what was wrong and turns out he has a leimyoma in his small intestine that has grown quite big and started to leak blood. We spent $4000 on an emergency blood transfusion and now need to either do the surgery, or let him pass (which I find difficult to agree with as he has zero other health issues and is still incredibly active). The vet is asking for another $4000 to do the surgery, which is just too much for me to afford right now. Does anyone know any vets in the GTA area (I don't mind driving a few hours from Toronto) that would be more reasonably priced? I have xrays of the tumor that I can send them to help them gauge a price, I just need to know which vet offices to contact. Thank-you!

Dr. Varney and Dr. LaChance are great! It's definitely less expensive on the QC side. I'm not sure many vets do payment plans, however I would check into www.petcard.ca for financing.

Many possibilities for his symptoms, how young? Maybe he swallowed something he shouldn't have and has a bowel (partial) obstruction? That can definitely causes these symptoms and requires immediate vet assessent and treatment. Some vets will allow a person to provide post-dated cheques to pay off bill so ask if that's possible. There's also www.petcard.ca -- you apply for it online, a way to slowly finance vet bills...you choose the term to pay back. Go to website and read up on it. Please try to get your pup into someone much sooner than Monday.
