Hello there, can anyone help or point me in the right direction regarding city policy on detached buildings (sheds/garages). My question is does the city pay or assist with demolition of these buildings if they are in a 'too shabby' state? I don't want to say condemned but that is the direction this is headed.
Basically, when I bought my home my garage was hanging in there, now it's to the point where I need to take some action on it. It's clearly very old, has some indication it could have been used as a stable, and lots of patch work has been done to it's base, sides and roof already. As a storage shed it's great, as a garage, not so much. Swing out doors and a low cross beams mean I've never parked my Jeep inside. From the yard there is a small gap to access the front door way too, about 1 1/2 feet, so it stinks trying to bring anything somewhat wide into the yard (my butt included).
I've looked into the cost of having a demo and basic rebuild performed as I want to reclaim some of the space (it is about 13.5 feet wide x 24 feet long). If anyone knows good contractors for this type of job feel free to include their contact info.
Appreciate any help or advice. Thanks!
