  Lauren....I had the same problem. All the schools were too religious for what I was looking for. We (and some other families from SC) attend Carden Academy in Mission Viejo (just off the freeway at La Paz). It's a small private school K-8. My son is thriving there academically and socially. It's rare when you walk into a school office and no matter what grade a child is in they actually stop and hold the door open for you. They learn wonderful values and learn to respect. The tuition isn't bad either compared to a lot of the schools in the area. www.cardenacademy.com
