I found the key later and went to our Jeep dealer to get a copy and was quite astounded when I found out it would be around 300 to get a duplicate, but they will program one I bring in for $40. In my subsequent research, I have not found a reliable place to purchase the right blank key for duplication. Amazon has several options, but reading the comments, it seems like something changed in 2016 or 2017 and the part is different now. I have no idea what the correct part number is and I have not had any luck finding it in the different wrangler forums or the jeep and mopar sites. Anyone have any advice or recommendations for a cheaper way to go?

  I got mine from keylessride.com it's a Mopar part and didn't take long to get. We used to use them when I worked in a hardware store to supply our chip keys. Just punch in your model info and pick the key that looks like yours. I think I spent around 110 for the key and a little bit more for shipping. They'll also recommend places near you to have it cut and programmed besides the dealer.

  City Lock in Boulder may have an aftermarket key available, or you may be able to find a cheap replacement online and have them cut and program it. The cost depends on the car model. keylessride.com

  I just searched the page and the post about "key fob" didn't have any details. We have a 2014 Chevy that we can't program the key fob ourselves (yes already checked online on how to but that stopped in 2013). Does anyone know of a local car locksmith that can program the key fob for us? Yes I already called the dealer. They want $60 to program it and need the car for at least a couple of hours (head scratch on that time estimate).

The dealer will charge over $200 Was hoping someone might know where I can get one made for much cheaper. Thanks!!

  Hers 1 place I've been told aout http://www.keylessride.com/ They are supposed to be a third of what the dealers charge. I have no personal experience but am aware of them. Good Luck
