  Does any one have problems grooming their coonie? I have to fight my girl, tooth and nail, just to brush her. I have always brushed her, every day, since I got her when she was 16 weeks old. She has never liked it. I have tried all kinds of brushes, combs, you name it. The problem is that she absolutely tolerates no brushing on her tummy and when she molts (which is now) she gets matting and I have to take her to the groomer to shave her tummy. I don't like taking her to the groomer because I feel there are some risks involved. I would rather take care of her grooming at home, but just can't. Any ideas?

  I see. Is it not possible to find a different kind of groomer? One where you can stay with your cat for a fixed appointment? Some groomers are better than others with cats. and some are able to give a cat only slot or have a separate room for cats? Also, some vets have grooming services too?   The National Cat Groomers Institute of America (Greenville, NC) has a registry of certified cat groomers all over the US on their website. They also sell excellent videos on how to groom cats. Call 864-271-743- (Danelle German has an impressive bio). I have 4 of the videos because I have 5 Persians and there are no reputable cat groomers near me in NJ. Two of my cats have medical issues, which is cause for concern while grooming. The videos were a good investment and I can groom them on my own time and know I'm doing a reasonably decent job (and getting better at it). If your near enough, you can take the course & get certified. www.nationalcatgroomers.com
